Campus: Facilities, Residence and Location

Campus facilities include: Students' Association center, Drama Space, Bookstore, Conference Rooms, Atrium Assembly Space, Outdoor Sports Fields, Two Student Residences, 34 Classrooms, Eight Science Labs, Three Computer Labs, a Performance Hall With Pipe Organ, Library, Gymnasium, and Fine Arts Studios.

The King’s University offers two residence alternatives: The Tower residence and the Apartment Residence. The Tower Residence is for the first and second year students. Each room is fully furnished, with amenities that include a bathroom, internet access, cable television, mini refrigerators (for rent), common lounges, laundry, and prepaid food services. Apartment Residence is a five-storey apartment for senior and returning students. Its amenities include: fully-furnished appliances, dining tables, chairs, living room furniture, bed, desk, wardrobe, and telephone services. Each suite includes: kitchen, living area, six bedrooms, and two bathrooms.

Student Services and Student Life

King’s offers students First Year Experience, Disability Services, Counselling and Tutoring, Campus Ministries (Worship, Grow, Pray, Serve), and Student Care Packages.

The King’s Student Association (SA) is the student body government of the College, and students automatically become members when they pay the Student Association Fee. Becoming a part of the union allows the students to be a part of the decision-making process and to be involved in services and activities that encourage student interaction and group cooperation.

Students might also want to join some of the sponsored clubs of the University: King's Keepers (this will provide opportunities for students to be involved in creation and environment care), Dance, Running and Fitness Club, The King's Commerce Association (brings the business world and the commerce students at King's together), King's Global Community (promotes intercultural understanding and friendship), Education Club, The Ping Pong Club, Prison Ministry Club, King's Science Society (brings science students together and allow them to participate in activities that can be educational and fun), King's Hands (service opportunities for students to be involved in community), MASS (Micah Action/Awareness Student Society) (promote action and change regarding issues of social injustice on both a local and global level), The Ultimate Club (Frisbee), Psychology Club, Mature Students Club (offers an opportunity for mature students to connect with others who have had a break in their education).

Famous Alumni

Some of the most famous alumni of the university include: Dr. Peter Mahaffey, Chair of the IUPAC Committee on Chemistry Education and the recipient of the 3M Canada Teaching Fellowship; Dr. Jacobus (Kobie) Kloppers (Professor Emeritus), Internationally known classical organist; and Dr. Kristopher J. Ooms, Professor of Chemistry, expert in the field of NMR spectroscopy.

Edmonton Information

Edmonton is the capital of the province of Alberta. The City of Edmonton covers an area larger than Chicago, Philadelphia, Toronto or Montreal. Edmonton has one of the lowest population densities in North America. In addition, Edmonton's river valley is 22 times larger than New York City's Central Park. The public river valley parks provide a unique urban escape area with park styles ranging from fully serviced urban parks to campsite-like facilities with few amenities.

Edmonton has a northern continental climate with extreme seasonal temperatures, although the city has milder winters than either Regina or Winnipeg, which are both located at a more southerly latitude. It has mild summers and chilly winters, with the average daily temperatures ranging from -11.7°C in January to 21°C in July.
