Student Services and Student Life

Concordia offers the following services to its students: Accident Insurance, Assistance with Grievances, Computers for Student Use, Concordia Students Association, Counselling, Disabilities and Special Needs, Emergencies/Health Services, Food Services, New Student Orientation, Off Campus Housing Registry, Parking, Student Identification Cards, and Writing Centre.

The student government of the University is the Concordia Students’ Association. It is the representative of the students to the General Council and the faculty members, and aims to make the students’ academic and personal experiences more enriching for everyone. Some of its services include: Student Email, CSA Events Calendar, CSA Photo Gallery, CSA BBS Forum, CSA News Headlines, and the Blue and White (a student- lead newspaper printed once a month).

There are also clubs students can join. They include: Church Vocations Association, Concordia Business Association, Concordia Fan League, Environmental Student Health Student Association, Education After Degree Student Association, Concordia Science Club, Education Undergrad Society, Green Thespians Collective, Model UN, Psychology Students' Council, Social Justice, The Peripatetics, and the Toastmasters.

The University competes in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference and the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association. Its varsity name is the Concordia Thunder, and its team sports include: Volleyball, Cross-Country Running, Soccer, Hockey, Golf, Curling, Basketball, and Badminton.

Academic Programs

The University offers the following programs: Bachelor of Arts (Four-Year Bachelor of Arts Majors, Three-Year Bachelor of Arts Concentrations, and Minors for Arts and Science Degree Programs); Bachelor of Science (Four-Year Bachelor of Science Majors, Three-Year Bachelor of Science Concentrations, and Minors for Arts and Science Degree Programs); Bachelor of Management (Four-Year Bachelor of Management and Bachelor of Management Emphasis); After-Degree Programs (Bachelor of Education - After Degree and Bachelor of Environmental Health - After Degree).

Off-Campus Living

Students who are looking for a place to live in can go to the Off-Campus Housing Registry. The registry is posted on the campus, given to students who request for information, and also published in the webpage. Currently enrolled students can apply for a rental accommodation without any charge, although those excluded from this category should pay a non-refundable $25.00 administration fee. Students should take in mind, thought, that the University does not inspect or give its approval to all the listed accommodations.

Edmonton Information

Edmonton is the capital of the province of Alberta. The City of Edmonton covers an area larger than Chicago, Philadelphia, Toronto or Montreal. Edmonton has one of the lowest population densities in North America. In addition, Edmonton's river valley is 22 times larger than New York City's Central Park. The public river valley parks provide a unique urban escape area with park styles ranging from fully serviced urban parks to campsite-like facilities with few amenities.

Edmonton has a northern continental climate with extreme seasonal temperatures, although the city has milder winters than either Regina or Winnipeg, which are both located at a more southerly latitude. It has mild summers and chilly winters, with the average daily temperatures ranging from -11.7°C in January to 21°C in July.
