Campus: Facilities, Residence and Location

TWU's 157-acre campus is near Langley City and the Trans-Canada Highway. It has around 300 faculty staff and 4,000 enrollees. Recently, it has launched the Religion in Canada Institute, Laboratory in Langley, The Centre for Entrepreneurial Leaders, and the TWU Bellingham Campus. For housing accommodations, the Langley campus offers students several residential buildings, which include the McMillan Hall, Fraser Hall, Robson Hall, Douglas Hall, and the The Northwest Building.

Student Services and Student Life

The University offers the following services: Bookstore, Career Services, Food Services (Sodexo, Jugo Juice, Ethical Addictions Coffeeshop, Sub Connection, and The Cognocenti Café), Gym & Fitness Centre, International Student Programs, Learning Services, Library (The Norma Alloway Library), Mail Centre, Parent Relations, Security Services (A 24-hour, on-campus security, seven days a week), and a Wellness Centre (provides on-campus medical clinic with a full-time doctor and registered nurse).

The student governing body of the University is the Trinity Western University Students Association. It includes 8 appointed members and 15 representatives, which are divided into five various departments together with the Executive branch of the student council. The Executive branch includes the President, the Vice President, the Vice President of Finance, the Vice President of Student Relations, the Vice President of Academic Relations, an Executive Director of Events, and an Executive Assistant.

Students can also join other clubs, such as: Accounting Club, Association of Pre-Health Professional Students, British Columbia Young Liberals, Chinese Students Society, Christian Roots, Communications Club, English Students Society, Fine Arts Club, Foreign Affairs Society, Future Teachers Society, Mountain Riders Discipleship, Music Guild, Nursing Students Association, Personal Financial Planning Club, Student Business Association, TWU Chemistry Society, TWU Outdoor Club, TWU Philosophy, and Undergraduate Psychology Student Initiative.

The University is represented by its varsity team: The Trinity Western Spartans. Its club sports are: Titans Men’s And Women’s Soccer, Titans Men’s Hockey, Titans Volleyball, Titans Men’s Basketball, Rowing Club, Outdoor Club, and Kayak Club. There are also Intramural Leagues, such as Indoor Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, and Dorm Football, and other unconventional sports, including the Ultimate Frisbee, Frisbee Golf, and Shinny. Those who are into fitness classes can join Group Fitness, Ballroom Dance, Swing Dance, and Middle Eastern Dance.

Some of the most notable alumni of TWU include: Ryan Walter (Ex-NHL Player, current assistant coach of the Vancouver Canucks), Roger Cross (actor, most recently on the show 24), Richard J. "Rick" Sutcliffe (professor & author), Phillip H. Wiebe (professor), Paul Janz (philosophy professor, former famous international musician), Paul Chamberlain (professor), Mark Warawa (Member of Parliament, Parliamentary Secretary), Kent Stanley (College Basketball Coach and Athletic Director), Grant McNally (Member of Parliament), Deborah Grey (Member of Parliament), Chuck Strahl (Member of Parliament, Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada), and Carolyn Arends.

Langley Information

The lower mainland is the largest single market area in western Canada, supporting a population of 2.3 million. Ideally situated for the future economic growth of the lower mainland region, the Township of Langley is a member of the Greater Vancouver Regional District.

The Township of Langley is bounded on the west by the City of Surrey, on the north by the Fraser River, on the east by the City of Abbotsford, and on the south by the Canada-U.S. boundary. It comprises 316 square kilometres (122 square miles) and is home to just over 100,000 people.

Langley is easily accessible from all parts of the lower mainland. Downtown Vancouver and the Vancouver International Airport are less than a one-hour drive away.

With a 24-hour border crossing nearby, access from Langley to the U.S. is excellent - a two hour drive to Seattle or a two hour flight to San Francisco or Los Angeles.
