... graduate school known for its “theological innovations while being rooted in Christian traditions.” VST is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools, and its values are rooted in “compassionate interaction, spiritual exploration, and intellectual rigour, and its long-standing partnerships with First Nations.”
VST is located in University Endowment Lands, British Columbia, Canada. It has accommodation and conferences rooms available to students, and its other facilities include the Chalmers Summer School, the Iona Pacific Inter-Religious Centre (a multi-cultural context for Vancouver School of Theology’s work to prepare leaders of the future). The H.R. MacMillan Theological Library offers library catalogues, research tools and the Thomas Merton Reading Room. Students can also live on campus. Somerville House opened its doors in 2004, and it consists of 38 suites. All the suites are furnished and include wall-to-wall carpeting. Four of the suits can be accessed by the disabled, and the monthly fees include cable television, high speed internet, electricity, water, and heat. Other amenities include: a large lounge and a small lounge on the first floor together with a fireplace. It also has a full-sized dining area and kitchen on the fourth floor. Coin-operated laundry rooms are on the ground and fourth floors. There is an elevator in the entrance lobby with access to the fourth floor studio apartments and kitchen. Individual mailboxes are located in the lobby entrance way.
Students in the campus not only live an academic life, but they also live their lives within the school’s community atmosphere. Students can access child care services, worship services, counseling services, the Vancouver School of Theology Students Association, Recreation and Health Services, Bus Services, and a variety of shops, including small boutiques, grocery stores, banks, retail stores, dry cleaners, and other necessities that can easily be accessed by foot, bus, bike, or car.
The school offers the following programs to students: Master of Theology, Master of Divinity by Extension through the Native Ministry Program, Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Theological Studies, Doctor of Philosophy in conjunction with the University of Wales, Diploma in Denominational Studies, and Diploma in Christian Studies.
Entering students can take advantage of the following scholarships and bursaries offered by Vancouver School of Theology: Relocation Bursary, Promise for Public or Pastoral Leadership Scholarship, Academic Promise Scholarship, International Student Scholarship, and Aboriginal Student Scholarship.
