The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, once called the Ontario College of Naturopathic Medicine, was established in 1978. It was a registered charity that was dedicated to research and education in naturopathic medicine, and currently has 100 full-time employees, with an estimated 90 part-time and contractual staff and faculty staff members. It has an $11 million budget as of to date, and is one of the only six accredited naturopathic medical schools in North America (and one of the only two in Canada). Campus: Facilities, Residence and Location

CCNM has some amazing facilities, including the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic, Integrated HealthCare Centre, and the Learning Resources Centre. It offers co-educational housing residences for both short-term and long-term students. There are 200 rooms for single-occupancy boarding, and amenities include: a single bed, desk, chair, wardrobe closet, personal refrigerator, TV Lounges and dining areas that come with a fully-equipped kitchen and coin-operated laundry facilities on every floor. The residence also has a 24-hour security personnel and security cameras that are conveniently situated on the campus grounds.

Student Services and Student Life

The Naturopathic Students’ Association is the representative student body of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Every year, 14 executive members are chosen from the student body to represent the needs and interests of the students in all areas that pertain to their academic education, clinical experiences and everyday life as a future Naturopathic Doctor. Their student-run and student-written newsletter is “The Vine.” It currently publishes four times every year, and its main focus is to shed light on student opinions and the current happenings of the college and the profession.

Academic Programs

The College offers programs in the areas of BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES, where students “take courses in anatomy (including gross anatomy, prosection, neuroanatomy, embryology and histology), physiology, biochemistry, immunology, environmental and public health (including infectious diseases), pharmacology and pharmacognosy”; CLINICAL SCIENCES, where “primary care management is covered in the study of botanical medicine, homeopathy, emergency medicine, nutrition, physical medicine (including naturopathic, osseous and soft tissue manipulative therapy, physiotherapy, sports medicine, therapeutic exercise and hydrotherapy), psychological counseling, nature cure, acupuncture and Asian medicine and minor surgery”; and the ART AND PRACTICE OF NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE.

Off-Campus Living

The College also provides students a comprehensive listing of available apartments, sublets, housing, and ads for roommates. Students are required to complete their “Submit Housing Listing Form” to advertise available housing opportunities, or they can go to CCNM’s website to identify specific places they want to live in. Postings are updated by the College every week.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

CCNM offers a number of scholarships, loans, awards, and bursaries to deserving academic students. Some of their available scholarships include: First Nations Award - Sponsored by the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and Entrance Scholarships.
