Campus: Facilities, Residence and Location

The University has the following institutes and centres: Canadian Forces Language Schools, Canadian Forces Leadership Institute at RMC, Centre for International Relations at Queens, Centre for Space Research at RMC, Canadian Forces Management Development School (CFMDS), Centre for Automotive Materials and Manufacturing at Queens and RMC, Fuel Cell Research Centre at Queens and RMC, GeoEngineering Centre at Queens and RMC, High Performance Computing Consortium (HPCVL), and Institute for Defence Resources Management at the RMC. The campus accommodates co-educational students in double rooms, while single rooms are given to the Fourth Year officer cadets. Other amenities include on-campus dining and recreational facilities, including swimming pools.

Student Services and Student Life

The University lives in a military environment, which means that all cadets are mandated to undergo physical fitness exercises, deportment, teamwork, cooperation, and drills. They are also expected to observe leadership of others and themselves, and develop a sense of self-discipline, duty, integrity, and self-confidence. Every cadet must pass through many levels in order to become a full-fledged Cadet wing member.

The First Year Orientation Period (FYOP) is one of the most challenging experiences for the students. It starts in the first month of the academic year, and cadets are required to maintain exceptional deportment and standard appearance. During this time, communication with the outer world is cut off from the cadet, and they are mandated to do many long periods of running up the Fort Henry, Ontario hill. The highlight of the event is the obstacle course, where it consists of thirteen obstacles with 12-foot walls and rope bridges. The entire course will last at an estimated 2 hours.

RMC is a member of the four regional associations of the Canadian Interuniversity Sports (CIS) and the Ontario Universities Athletic (OUA). The University competes in the following sports: Volleyball (Men And Women), Taekwondo (Men And Women), Soccer (Men And Women), Running Team (Men And Women), Rugby (Men), Hockey (Men), Fencing (Men And Women), and Basketball (Men And Women).

Students can join organizations according to their interests, such as: Broomball, Yachting, Cycling, Drama, Outdoors, Paintball, Photography, Climbing, Rowing, Flying, Stage Band, Arts, Social Dance, Astronomy, Video Editing, War Games, Water Polo, Debating, Woman's Rugby, Windsurfing, Golf, Judo, Juggling, Fish & Game, And Cheerleading.

Academic Programs

The College offers the following programs: Arts (Business Administration, Humanities - Honours and General,Military and Strategic Studies - Honours and General, Social Science - Honours and General), Science (Space Science, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Chemistry), and Engineering (Chemical and Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering).

Notable Accomplishments

Many of the graduates have distinguished themselves in all aspects of Canadian military service. Some of them include: North West Rebellion of 1885, the South African War, the First and Second World Wars, Korea, and the Persian Gulf wars. Similarly, many ex-cadets have been prominently influential in many civilian professions.

Kingston, Ontario, is a Canadian city located at the eastern end of Lake Ontario, where the lake runs into the St. Lawrence River and the Thousand Islands begin. Kingston has developed a thriving artistic and entertainment life. The city hosts several festivals during the year, including the Limestone City Blues Festival, the Kingston Canadian Film Festival, Fanfayr, the Kingston Buskers' Rendezvous, Kingston Sheep Dog Trials, Kingston Jazz Festival, Canada DanceSport, Reelout Queer Film Festival, Feb Fest, the Limestone Classic, the Chilifest.

Music and theatre is alive and well in the limestone city, thanks to Kingston's Grand Theatre (Kingston), Domino Theatre, Theatre Kingston and The Wellington Street Theatre, and other small groups that dot the downtown area. The Kingston Symphony Orchestra performs at The Grand Theatre, as do several amateur and semi-professional theatre groups.

Kingston's economy relies heavily on public sector institutions and establishments. The most important sectors are related to health care, education, government, tourism and culture, manufacturing, and research and development.
