Cary is a town in the state of North Carolina, USA. It is located in Wake County (and partially in Chatham County) and is considered a suburb of the city of Raleigh. The municipality is the second biggest within Wake county and the third biggest in The Triangle (Durham and Raleigh are bigger). The town's population has boomed through the last decade, increasing by 43 percent. It has grown from 94,536 individuals in 2000 to around 135,200 by 2010. Cary is amongst the fastest growing municipalities in the US. It is the largest town and 7th largest municipality in the state of North Carolina.

The Triangle is an area created during 1959 as a research triangle park. Located in the triangle are three important research facilities: UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State University and Duke University. The cities of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill make up the three most significant research cities of RTP. The Triangle is bordered on three sides by Durham City and is halfway between the cities of Chapel Hill and Raleigh. Cary City is situated beside The Triangle within the Piedmont region. The town's west and north edges are bordered by RTP.

The Jordan Lake area is situated to the west of Cary City. This hilly town has a humid subtropical type of weather, with hot summer temperatures which could reach more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Wintertimes are mild with an average of seven inches of snow. The town has a total area of 43.5 square miles, based on the United States Census Bureau.

Cary City was settled in the year 1750 and was initially referred to as Bradford's Ordinary. When the North Carolina Railroad arrived during the mid 1800s, the area became a primary transportation route. The very first settlers were Allison Francis Page along with his wife, Catherine Raboteau Page. A farmer and lumberman from Wake County, Page obtained land in the year 1854 and called it Cary in honor of the former prohibitionist and congressman of Ohio, Samuel Fenton Cary. When the town was officially incorporated during 1871, Page became its very first mayor.

For outdoor recreation; the city of Cary has numerous parks, comprising Annie L. Jones Park, MacDonald Woods Park, Sears Farm Road Park, White Oak Park, and Fred G. Bond Metro Park. The Hemlock Bluffs State Natural Area is a well-known destination area. Holiday Acres Lake, Hoffman Lake and MacGregor Downs Lake are wonderful locales utilized for water sports and fishing. Every year the Town of Cary hosts various festivals and events such as Art Quilt Show, Spring Daze Arts & Crafts Festival and Martin Luther King Jr. Dreamfest.
