Bellevue is a city situated in the Eastside area of King County, Washington. It is located across Lake Washington from the city of Seattle. For a lot of years, this area was considered to be a suburb or satellite city of Seattle. These days, it is categorized and recognized as an edge city or "boomburb." The 2010 census recorded the population to be approximately 122,400.

The downtown core of Bellevue is experiencing fast change. Presently, it is the 2nd biggest city center in Washington State. There are more than 35,000 workers and approximately 5000 residents within the area. Bellevue City is the 6th wealthiest among 522 communities in the state based on per capita income.

The city of Bellevue was settled during the late 1860s and early part of the 1870s, when is became a popular location for inhabitants of nearby Seattle that had summer homes in the area. To be able to make way for agriculture, many of the region's towering evergreens were eventually removed. For the first half of the 20th century, Bellevue was known for its abundance of strawberry and blueberry farms. In the year 1940, the very first floating bridge across Lake Washington was completed and immediately, the city of Seattle became a suburban and much more accessible location. Because the individuals flocked to the community, the entire area went through much growth which continued for some decades as more businesses and families ushered in. During the year 1953, Bellevue was incorporated as a city.

Due to the highway access through State Route 520 and Interstate 90 into downtown Seattle, the city of Bellevue began to flourish. The city of Bellevue is located near Microsoft's home in Redmond Washington. Now, the city of Bellevue is home to numerous headquarters of various small and big companies, a good part of which are businesses that were born during the 1990s. There are various flourishing commercial districts in the area like for example 3 major shopping centers other than the Bellevue Square. These shopping places are: Factoria Mall located within the south, Crossroads Mall to the East and Overlake Shopping District within the North.

The city of Bellevue has held ever since 1947, the annual Bellevue Arts and Crafts Fair, which operates at the end of July. This fair is able to draw thousands of guests to the region every year. As well, the city of Bellevue also holds a yearly Strawberry Festival to be able to celebrate and pay homage its history of strawberry farming.

There is a biennial Bellevue Sculpture Exhibition held each and every year which attracts thousands of visitors to the Downtown Park to be able to view up to 46 three-dimensional art creations from artists from all over the country. There is also the annual Bellevue 24-Hour Relay which takes place within the Downtown Park every month of July.

Bellevue offers various places of interest that are located in a short driving distance. For instance, in the downtown area there is The Bellevue Arts Museum. This is considered to be the main center in the Pacific Northwest for the exploration of crafts, design and arts. There is a particular emphasis placed on the work of local artists.

The KidsQuest Children's Museum is another gem in the city of Bellevue where kids are able to interact with educational displays, exhibits and play areas. There are a variety of classroom spaces and discovery areas available for large school groups. One more great site to visit is the Bellevue Botanical Garden. This massive wonderland consists of 53 acres showcasing wetlands, meadows, display gardens and woodlands. In the month of December, the Garden hosts the yearly Garden d'Lights Festival. Scores of families visit In order to enjoy the three-dimensional sculptures of animals and plants that are constructed using bundled Christmas lights depicting nature-themed scenes.
