Brockville is situated in the Thousand Islands region of Eastern Ontario, Canada. It is known as the "City of 1000 Islands." With a population of 21,957, Brockville City serves as the seat of the United Counties of Grenville and Leads. Brockville City is grouped with Leeds and Grenville for census reasons.

Brockville is named for the British general Sir Isaac Brock. It is one of Ontario's oldest urban centres and boasts various beautiful fountains and grand mansions reflecting its historic past. Situated approximately half-way between Kingston and Cornwall, on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, the city of Brockville is directly opposite Morristown, New York. The nation's capital city of Ottawa is approximately a 40-minute drive away.

Brockville's beautiful downtown area has just undergone revitalization with various shops and a public waterfront development. The city of Brockville has numerous great parks and trails for biking and hiking. There are even interesting museums within Brockville city. Within the historic downtown, the Brockville Museum houses exhibits and artifacts describing Brockville's Loyalist development and past. The Fulford Place museum is situated within the stately home of Senator George Taylor Fulford within Brockville's east end. Fulford became among the area's richest industrialists after achieving success in globally advertising "Dr. Williams' Pink Pills for Pale People." The Ontario Heritage trust operates the museum.

The Maritime Discovery Centre is a multi-million dollar tourism and education attraction which caters to all tastes, ages and interests. The Centre offers exhibits and activities inside Discovery Hall and an interactive theater, all located on Broad Street.

Brockville City has a large industrial manufacturing base, including 3M factories, Procter & Gamble operations, Trillium Canada, Canarm, and a Shell Canada oil-blending plant. There is an Abbott Laboratories manufacturing plant and a Giant Tiger distribution centre. Invista Canada hires many area residents at the plant within Maitland, east of Brockville. Numerous individuals work at a big call centre, Transcom Worldwide.

The main public sector employers are the Upper Canada District School Board and the Brockville Mental Health Center. Brockville employs many in the administrative, commercial and health care sectors.
