The city of Aurora is the 112th biggest city within the United States and likewise the 2nd most populous city in Illinois. The original settlement of Aurora was founded by Samuel and Joseph McCarty during the year 1837, and was called McCarty Mills. Referred to as the "City of Lights," Aurora became the very first city within the United States to utilize electric lights during the year 1881 for lighting all of the streets within the city.
