Minnesota Indian Scholarship
Minnesota Indian Scholarship Program provides postsecondary financial assistance to eligible Minnesota resident students who are of one-fourth or more Indian ancestry and demonstrate financial need for an award.
Who is Eligible?
Scholarships are available to eligible Indian undergraduate students enrolled at least ¾ time and graduate students enrolled at least half time.
In order to qualify for this scholarship, you must be:
A) One-fourth or more American Indian or be an enrolled member or citizen of a federally-recognized American Indian tribe or Canadian First Nation
B) One-fourth or more American Indian
C) A Minnesota resident
D) Enrolled in an accredited college, university or vocational school in Minnesota
E) An undergrad student who qualifies for either a Pell or State Grant and demonstrates financial need or a graduate student who demonstrates financial need
How Much Money Can You Get?
The annual award amount is up to $4,000 per academic year for undergraduate students and up to $6,000 per academic year for graduate students. Eligible students may receive awards in up to 3 semesters, 4 quarters, or the equivalent during an award year.
Students are eligible to receive awards up to a lifetime maximum of ten (10) annual awards or the equivalent with additional award limits based on the program level.
A) Students enrolled in less than 4-year degree programs (Certificate, Diploma, or Associate's Degree) are limited to 3 annual awards or the equivalent (6 semesters, 9 quarters, etc.)
B) Student enrolled in 4-year degree programs (Bachelor's Degree) are limited to 5 annual awards or the equivalent (10 semesters, 15 quarters, etc.) including any awards received while enrolled in a less than 4-year degree program
C) Students enrolled in graduate or professional degree programs (Master's Degree, Doctorate Degree) are limited to 5 annual awards or the equivalent (10 semesters, 15 quarters, etc.)
Students may receive the scholarship for only one degree per educational level and one terminal graduate degree.
