The Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting (EFWA) annually awards scholarships to women who are pursuing accounting degrees.
Whether you are pursuing an associate’s degree, a bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree, the Foundation has a scholarship designed for you. These opportunities are developed to financially support, empower and encourage women pursuing a career in accounting.
Each year the application period opens in January and closes March 30 for all scholarship applications.
Associate's Degree
All scholarships offered at the associate degree level must meet the following criteria:
- Applicant must be a women
- Applicant must have financial needs
- Applicant must be pursuing a business degree program, preference given to those focused on accounting
- Applicant must be attending an accredited two-year college
- Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen
Aspire Scholarship (2-Year Scholarship) – up to $2,000 per year for up to two years
- Applicant must be a primary source of support for her family
- For renewal for the second-year of funding:
- Recipient must provide verification of continuing progress towards a degree
- Recipient must provide evidence of completion of satisfactory coursework as evidenced by a 2.0 or better GPA
American Dream Scholarship (1-Year Scholarship) – up to $1,000 one-time
Applicant has aspirations of transferring to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Scholarship is intended to offer an opportunity to provide financial and mentoring support primarily for individuals from the Black, Latinx, and Native populations. Eligibility for the American Dream scholarship is not exclusionary on the basis of race, color, sex, age, religion, national and ethnic origin, disability, veteran status, socioeconomic background, or sexual orientation.
Bachelor's Degree
All scholarships offered at the bachelor’s degree level must meet the following criteria:
- Applicant must be a woman
- Applicant must have financial needs
- Applicant must be pursuing an accounting degree program (including those pursuing a double major)
- Applicant must be attending an AACSB accredited college or university
- Applicant must be US Citizen, except for the EFWA Global Undergraduate Scholarship
Horizons Scholarship (2-Year Scholarship) – up to $5,000 per year for up to two years
- Applicant must be the primary source of support for her family
- Applicant must be within approximately 60 credit hours from completing her accounting bachelor’s degree
- For renewal for the second-year funding:
- Recipient must provide verification of continuing progress towards an accounting degree
- Recipient must provide evidence of completion of satisfactory course work as evidenced by a 2.0 or greater GPA
IMA Undergraduate Scholarship (1-Year Scholarship) - up to $2,000 one-time
Additionally, recipients will receive a complimentary one-year IMA student membership ($39 value), the CMA exam entrance fee ($250 value), as well as exam registration fee ($415 value per part). The CMA exam entrance and registration fees have a two-year time limit and are non-transferable.

EFWA Undergraduate Scholarship (1-Year Scholarship) - up to $1,500 one-time
Global Scholarship (1-Year Scholarship) – up to $1,500 one-time
- Open to non-U.S. Citizens
Master's Degree
All scholarships offered at the master’s degree level must meet the following criteria:
- Applicant must be a woman
- Applicant must have financial needs
- Applicant must be pursuing an advanced degree in business with a concentration in accounting
- Applicant must be attending an AACSB-accredited college or university
- Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen
IMA Graduate Scholarship (1-Year Scholarship) - up to $1,500 one-time
Additionally, recipients will receive a complimentary one-year IMA student membership ($39 value), the CMA exam entrance fee ($250 value), as well as exam registration fee ($415 value per part). The CMA exam entrance and registration fees have a two-year time limit and are non-transferable.

- Applicant must be pursuing a PhD in business with a concentration in accounting
- Applicant must be attending an AACSB accredited college or university
- Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen
Laurel’s Fund Scholarship (1-Year Scholarship) - up to $3,000 one time
