Morton Gould Young Composer Awards
The Awards honor the late Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and The ASCAP Foundation's former president Morton Gould's lifelong commitment to encouraging young creators. Open to composers of original, concert music ("classical"), the Awards encourage developing music creators during the earliest stages of their careers.
The Awards are open to young composers (each, an "Entrant") who have not reached their 30th birthday by February 1, 2022. Entrants must also be, at the time of entry, a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or enrolled student with a valid and current U.S. student visa and at least 13 years of age.
Minor Applicants: For Entrants under the age of 18 (or the age of majority in the state or country of their residence), such Entrant's parent or guardian will be required to complete and submit the Online Application (as defined below) on behalf of such Entrant and sign and submit a copy of the Parental Consent form available in the Online Application (see Submission Requirements below).
Co-Writers: No co-written Submissions (as defined below) will be considered for this Award.
Previous Recipients of Foundation Awards: Previous recipients of any Foundation award are eligible for consideration for the Awards but may only include in their Submission a work that was written after the work that was the subject of such previous award; however, previous recipients who have received one of the Morton Gould Young Composer Awards a total of three or more times in past years shall not be eligible for consideration for the Awards.
One (1) Submission per Entrant. If multiple Submissions are received by the same Entrant, only the first Submission entered by that Entrant will qualify for entry into the Awards; subsequent Submissions entered by that Entrant shall be disqualified.
