Wyoming Youth Soccer Scholarship

The Wyoming Youth Soccer (WYS) Scholarship Fund and the Wyoming Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (WYS ODP) Scholarship Fund are under the direct supervision of the WYS board of directors. Each year committees composed of association members are formed and are directly responsible for administration of the programs for one application period.

DETAILS:

1. At each budget planning session the WYS board will determine the available dollar amount for the coming year's scholarship program.

2. No fewer than three (3) and no more than six (6) annual scholarships will be awarded

3. Awarded amounts can range from a minimum of $500.00 per recipient to a maximum of $1000.00 per recipient.

4. The maximum amount one individual may receive over a four (4) year period will be limited to $4,000.00.

5. Any unused scholarship award will remain in the fund and used for future awards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Applicant must be in their senior year of high school in Wyoming or is attending college and playing soccer at the college level.

2. Applicant must have played soccer with a WYS affiliated club/association. Affiliated association is defined as an association is good standing the Wyoming Youth Soccer. The applicant should have played soccer, either recreational or competitive, during their elementary and/or secondary school years. It is not required that the applicant play high school soccer.

3. It is not required that high school applicants play college level soccer.

4. To receive a scholarship for a second, third or fourth year, continuing college students are required to play college level soccer.

5. Previous scholarship recipients must apply each year.

6. Applicant must be enrolled or applying for enrollment at a junior college or 4 (four) year college or university.

7. Applicant must have a 2.0 or above grade point average.

8. To be considered the online application, including required supplementary items, must all be received by the application deadline.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

1. Financial need.

2. Applicant's involvement in youth soccer, as a player, a referee, and/or a coach.

3. Applicant's involvement in extracurricular activities – school and community.

4. Letters of recommendation

5. Scholastic effort including gpa, attendance, and extracurricular activities.
