The Loran Award offers a four-year leadership-enrichment program, financial support for undergrad, diverse opportunities for experiential learning, and a long-term supportive community of peers and mentors—people who will inspire and motivate you in your pursuit to make a difference.
Offered in partnership with 25 Canadian universities, and renewable for up to four years, the Loran Award is valued at more than $100,000 over four years of undergraduate study.
LORAN AWARDS
With the support of a national network, up to 36 Loran Scholars are provided with: an annual stipend and tuition waiver to enable their capacity and availability to engage with and contribute to their new communities; a comprehensive, thoughtfully-developed leadership enrichment program including a variety of summer work experiences, immersive learning in different parts of Canada and abroad, skills and capacity building; membership in a community of values-driven individuals, including a diverse network of past and present scholars, one-on-one mentoring, and annual retreats and forums for high potential youth to interact and learn from one another.
Loran Scholars may pursue undergraduate studies at the following universities only: Alberta, British Columbia (UBC), Calgary, Dalhousie, Guelph, King’s, Laval, McGill, McMaster, Manitoba, Memorial, Montréal (UdM), Mount Allison, New Brunswick (UNB), Ottawa, Queen’s, Saskatchewan, Sherbrooke, Simon Fraser, Toronto (UofT), Toronto Metropolitan, Waterloo, Western, Victoria, York.
Loran Scholars must meet university and program admission requirements. To renew the award, Loran Scholars must maintain a B+ (77%) CPGA under a full course load, live independently, including in university residence for the first year of study, and demonstrate growth in character, service, and leadership.
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS CEGEP STUDENTS
- Be entering university for the first time in September 2025.
- Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%.
- Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.
- Be born between January 1, 2003 and September 1, 2009.
