The Schiller Kessler Group has a long history of working with clients contending with life-changing medical diagnoses. We recognize that these clients must fight to have their conditions recognized as they learn how to adapt to changes in their health. It’s in light of these clients’ fights that we want to extend a helping hand to students in similar positions.

The firm’s new scholarship, The Healing Journey Scholarship, promises $2,500 to an undergraduate or graduate student who’s received a life-changing medical diagnosis. We encourage students to tell their stories and discuss how their diagnosis made them look at life in a new way.

Students have until August 31, 2025, to submit their applications for the scholarship selection committee’s consideration.

Who Is Eligible?

We invite undergraduate and graduate students in all areas of study to apply for The Healing Journey Scholarship. However, to qualify, students must first submit evidence that they’re enrolled in or accepted at an accredited United States college, university, or graduate school.

Applicants must also submit complete scholarship applications and agree to the scholarship’s terms and conditions. Please fill out the application form on this page and upload a copy of your scholarship essay in PDF format.

You do not need to submit medical records or other personal data going into detail about any condition you may have endured that qualifies you for this scholarship. However, applicants who misrepresent their health or fabricate conditions will have their applications automatically disqualified from the applicant pool.

Scholarship Essay Topic

Students applying for The Healing Journey Scholarship should compose an essay of a maximum of 1,000 words going into detail about how a medical diagnosis changed their lives. A representative from the firm says:

“As personal injury lawyers, we encounter many injured victims and are honored to join them on their journey to recovery. Whether you were hurt in an accident or were diagnosed with a severe illness, share your healing journey with us for a chance to win our scholarship award.”

You can focus on different areas of your life and detail how your condition impacted your physical body, emotional state, studies, or social relations. Please share any advice you have for those currently fighting to rebuild their lives.”

Selection & Award Notification Process

The Schiller Kessler Group requires any student interested in applying for The Healing Journey Scholarship to submit their completed application prior to the application’s closing date. The packet the scholarship selection committee receives must include all essential materials.

Scholarships submitted late or without all of their essential materials will be removed from the applicant pool.

The scholarship selection committee can take up to three months to read through the scholarship essays and select a recipient. Age, race, religion, gender, national origin, familial status, or other protected classes will have no influence on the committee’s decision.

Once the committee reaches its decision, it will reach out to the winning student by email. The Schiller Kessler Group will then announce the winner’s name through a blog post and press release. We ask that neither students nor their families reach out to the team prior to this process to ask for updates on a scholarship application’s progress.
