Safety First Scholarship

At Arckey & Steele, we believe that safety is more than just a priority—it’s a responsibility. Whether on the road, in the workplace, or within our communities, taking proactive steps to prevent accidents and promote well-being can save lives. That’s why we’re proud to introduce the Safety First Scholarship, an opportunity for students who are passionate about creating safer environments for themselves and others. The Safety First Scholarship is designed to support students who recognize the importance of safety education and advocacy.

Whether you’re studying public health, law, engineering, or another field, we want to hear your ideas on how to improve safety measures in everyday life. As part of the application, students will submit an essay discussing the importance of safety awareness and innovative solutions to reduce risks in their chosen field or community. The most compelling and well-researched submission will receive $1,000 to support their educational journey.

Eligibility

• The Arckey & Steele Scholarship is open to current high school seniors, vocational students, college students, and graduate students who are legal residents of the United States and reside in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a vocational program or a two- to four-year post-secondary institution.
• Employees of Arckey & Steele, their immediate family members (parents, children, siblings, and spouses), and individuals residing in the same household (whether related or not) are not eligible to apply.
• To qualify, candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and maintain good academic standing.

Application Requirements

• The candidate must submit a 750-1,000 word essay response to the prompt: Safety is a fundamental responsibility that impacts every aspect of our lives—from the workplace to the roads we travel and the communities we live in. Describe a specific safety issue that you believe needs greater attention. Discuss why this issue is important, the potential risks involved, and propose innovative solutions to improve safety in this area. Use research, real-world examples, or personal experiences to support your argument.
  • Please note that all essays will be checked for AI writing. The application will be denied if AI writing is deemed present in the essay.
• The candidate must submit a professional resumé that lists their professional and academic experience.
• The candidate must submit a transcript from their current school. First-year college students, graduate students, or individuals who have recently transferred schools may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school and the most recent official transcript from their prior school. High school students can submit proof of acceptance to their college or university.
• Preference will be given to students from or attending the state’s secondary school.
