Baptist Convention of New Mexico Scholarships

All of these scholarships are paid directly to the college or seminary prior to the opening of the fall semester. These scholarships are made available through monies from wills, trust funds, memorials, and gifts by New Mexico Baptists for deserving students. 

Aulick Memorial Scholarship

Amount: Varies

Available for: Students attending Eastern New Mexico University, must be enrolled and attending Christian Challenge (BSU) at ENMU, male or female

Application deadline: April 15

Requirements: Students attending Eastern New Mexico University, students must demonstrate a financial need, copy of last semester transcript, must have 2.75 GPA, and three letters of recommendation (one specifically from Eastern New Mexico University, Christian Challenge (BSU) Director).

Billie Holder Memorial

Amount: Varies

Available for: College or university (any state), male or female

Selection made by: Members of Billie Holder family and New Mexico Baptist Foundation

Application deadline: April 15

Requirements: GPA 2.5 minimum, financial need, must provide three references, including a recommendation from the student’s pastor.

Bennett/McAfee Memorial

Amount: Varies

Available for: Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary or Eastern New Mexico University, male or female

Selection made by: Mrs. Bennett and Mrs. McAfee

Application deadline: April 15

Awarded: June 1

Requirements: Approved by home church, maintain 2.5 GPA, involved in local Southern Baptist church and active in BSU, must carry minimum of 12 undergraduate semester hours or 10 graduate hours.

Jeri Sue Hollenbach Bauman Memorial

Amount: Varies

Available for: College or university, male or female

Application deadline: April 15

Requirements: Full-time student (12 hours or more), member of a Southern Baptist church, member in good standing of cooperating Baptist church in New Mexico, former member/currently an active member of cooperating Southern Baptist church, students of any evangelical church may be considered, preference given to students attending New Mexico colleges or universities.

Jessie & Phyllis Allen Memorial

Amount: Varies

Available for: College only, male or female

Application deadline: April 15

Requirements: Preference is given in the following order: Former members of Lesbia Baptist Church, students from Quay County, then other New Mexico students.

Ken Williams Scholarship

Amount: Varies

Available for: College or university (any state), male or female

Application deadline: April 15

Requirements: Applicant must be a full-time college student, enrolled in an accredited college or university. Evidence must accompany a completed application. Student must demonstrate a financial need. Student must provide a copy of their last grade report and the GPA must be a 2.0 or higher.

New Mexico Baptist Foundation Scholarship

Amount: Varies

Available for: Male or female, college, university or seminary in New Mexico or elsewhere

Application deadline: April 15

Requirements: Financial need, GPA 2.5 or better

O’Brien-Kollmar Scholarship

Amount: Varies

Available for: Male or female; New Mexico students attending Hardin-Simmons University

Application deadline: April 15

Requirements: NM student attending Hardin Simmons University; financial need; GPA 2.5 or better

Sally McCord Fisher Memorial

Amount: Varies

Available for: College or university, male or female

Application deadline: April 15

Requirements: Member of First Baptist Church, Roswell, NM or former member who is currently an active member of another Southern Baptist church or former resident of Roswell, NM area, GPA 2.5 for 2 semesters prior to application, financial need

Tori Tremaine

Available for: Hardin-Simmons female students only

Requirements: Must attend Hardin-Simmons University, child of missionary or child of a mission volunteer or she herself is a mission volunteer.
