The Oscar Grant Foundation College and Trade Scholarship Program supports graduating high school seniors and young adults pursuing higher education or vocational training. This program provides financial assistance, mentorship, and encouragement to students who demonstrate commitment to academic excellence, community service, and personal growth.
Application Process
Applicants must complete and submit:
- A completed application form
- A two-page personal essay describing their goals, achievements, and how they plan to make a positive impact in their community
- A letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or community leader
- All required supporting documents submitted by the stated deadline
After initial review, qualified applicants will participate in a panel interview conducted by the Oscar Grant Foundation Scholarship Committee.
All scholarship recipients are required to volunteer at three (3) OGF events within the year as a way of giving back and staying connected to the Foundation’s mission.

Applicants are evaluated on six key areas:

3. Essay Quality and Impact
4. Panel Interview
5. Submission of All Required Documents
The review process ensures fairness, integrity, and recognition of students who not only excel academically but also embody the spirit of leadership and service.
