Scholarship Fund Program Application 2025
- Applicant or immediate family member or guardian must be a current full active member of OHHA.
- Preference will be given to Ohio residents.
- Completed application, essays and all supporting documentation must be postmarked by Mar 15, 2025. Late applications will not be accepted.
- Two letters of recommendation are required. One should be from teachers, advisors, coaches, etc. One should be from a connection to the harness-racing industry. Recommendations from family members will not be considered.
- Applications will be accepted from graduating high school seniors and/or students enrolled in degree or certificate programs. Graduate students are not eligible to apply unless they are enrolled in a harness racing-specific graduate or professional-level program and provide complete details regarding the harness racing-specific graduate or professional-level program in conjunction with their application.
- Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit. Financial need may be considered. OHHA scholarships are one-year awards. If not used in the school year applied for, the scholarship will not be distributed.
- Scholarships must be used towards the cost and expenses related to coursework and a degree being pursued at a college or university; written evidence provided upon receipt of an award. Scholarship award preference is to pay the recipient’s college or university directly. (In the OHHA’s discretion with exigent circumstances, award may be paid directly to recipient. In those instances, proof of the expenditure being used for academic purposes must be provided to the OHHA office by October 31, 2025.)
- Announcement of the 2025 OHHA Scholarship recipients will be made in May of 2025. Distribution of the awards will be made by August of 2025.
- The Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association reserves the right to alter, amend, and administer this program in their sole and complete discretion.
