Applicants to the NEMRA Educational Scholarship Foundation Program must be:
Dependent children, age 28 and under, of representative members or manufacturer members of National Electrical Manufacturers Representatives Association (NEMRA) and their employees. Members must be in good standing as of the application deadline date.
Eligibility
Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the representative member’s or employee’s household or primarily supported by the representative member or employee.
High school seniors or graduates, current postsecondary undergraduates, or graduate or doctoral level students, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school or graduate school for the entire upcoming academic year.
Provide 2 references. One from a current NEMRA member firm (representative or manufacturer). The additional reference may be from an educator or employer.
Children of employees of NEMRA are ineligible to apply.
Award Amounts
Thirty-two (32) awards will be awarded for this year. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Awards, with the exception of the Rouzer Award, are for undergraduate, graduate or doctoral study and may be used to pay for tuition, books, lab, fees, or other education related expenses.
Notification
Applicants will be notified in February. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of NEMRA Educational Foundation. Payments are made in June.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
- Academic record
- Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
- Work experience
- A statement of career and educational goals and objectives
- Unusual personal or family circumstances
- Two online recommendations
Preference will be given to those applicants who are pursuing post-secondary education in a discipline which targets a career in the electrical industry, such as electrical engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical technician, sales, marketing, finance, human resources, management, logistics, information technology
Financial need is not considered.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of NEMRA Educational Foundation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
