The Wisconsin Mayflower Society Scholarship is open to any high school senior who is a resident of the State of Wisconsin and/or junior member or regular member of the Wisconsin Society living outside of Wisconsin, a Citizen of the United States, and who is planning to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational institution in the fall of 2025.
For 2025, there are three scholarships offered: one for $2000.00, one for $1620.00, and one for $1000. The scholarships will be payable to the students’ accounts at the colleges or universities in which they have enrolled and mailed to such universities in the fall.
Required Application Attachments:
- The completed application form with a resume listing extracurricular activities (both in school and community), employment, honors or awards, and leadership opportunities you have been involved in during high school.
- A Mayflower essay on the following topic: Compose an essay between 600 and 750 words on the following: How did the Mayflower Compact influence the development of the United States of America? Your essay must include references to document the facts that you use. Essays will be evaluated for content, organization, style, and grammar. All entries must be typewritten, and sources cited in appropriate bibliographic style.
- In addition to being clearly written, your essay should be properly documented using a recognized standardized format for citations (e.g., APA) that should appear at the bottom of your essay, including a bibliography that documents the sources you have used.
- One letter of recommendation from non-family members: teacher, counselor, church, scout leader, etc.
- A copy of your official high school transcript
- A copy or printout of your official notification of SAT and/or ACT scores.
Selection Process:
The Mayflower Scholarship Committee, consisting of three members, will annually review applications. The committee will select the winners for the 2025 Wisconsin Mayflower Society Scholarship Awards. All winners will receive a letter of confirmation by June 1, 2025.
Disbursement:
Upon notification of enrollment in an accredited college, university, or vocational institution, a payment will be sent to be deposited into the student’s tuition account.
