NVPS Scholarships

The NVPS Scholarship has been in existence since 2009, and provides up to $5,000 per year — up to $20,000 over four years — toward the cost of the awardee's full-time undergraduate study. The scholarship amount is determined by the following; demonstrated leadership, community engagement, academic rigor, resilience, and demonstrated financial need. These competitive scholarships are awarded to select students graduating from one of New Visions' 71 schools who are intending to attend college in the Fall.

Who is Eligible for the Scholarship?

Seniors in New Visions schools who are on track to graduate and demonstrate:

• Academic achievement, evidence of rigorous coursework, strong independent learning skills, curiosity, and self-motivation;  
• College readiness, ability to excel beyond requirements of difficult high school coursework;
• Leadership in school and community activities;  
• Integrity, actions that exhibit strength of character and ethical awareness;  
• Resilience and drive in overcoming obstacles and achieving goals;  
• Financial need.

  • Prompt: The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
