Colleges and Universities Process

The 1st Infantry Division Foundation has the mission of awarding scholarships to the most deserving high school senior students of 1ID veterans. This is a competitive scholarship program made possible by the generous donations of members and friends of the 1st Infantry Division. This year (2024) we were fortunate enough to sufficiently fund sixteen scholarships of $15,000 each, to be distributed over a four-year period. We expect the number of scholarships awarded to increase in the future as funds become available.

This year (2025), we had 77 bright young students apply for scholarships which had to be narrowed down to 15 primary recipients and two alternates. The applications are judged by the foundation scholarship committee and are evaluated on student grades, essay, their personal statement and their extracurricular activities, work experience, hobbies and awards.  I think most of the judging committee are truly in awe at the degree of excellence some of these students are able to achieve. We look forward to continuing this important program and encourage students to apply in the 2026 school year. Eligibility requirements and application instructions are noted below.

Instructions. Please provide the following information:

If this information does not appear on the discharge papers, it is your responsibility to prove service with the First Infantry Division in order to be eligible for the scholarship competition.

It is essential that your application be complete and received by the Foundation not later than April 30th, 2026 for consideration for the following school year. Please do not staple your documents.
