Since 2001, the Atlanta Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International has been pleased to offer annual Scholarships for Education and Continuing Education Grants to female applicants pursuing culinary or pastry arts, farming, beverage management, hospitality, or agriculture coursework.

Individual Education Scholarships

Following a rigorous and competitive evaluation by the committee, select applicants will be eligible for a minimum $1,000 award. LDEI-Atlanta accepts applications each spring and fall.

Individual Scholarship Criteria

The LDEI individual scholarship for culinary education is given to qualified women applicants pursuing full-time coursework in the culinary or pastry arts, beverage management, hospitality, agriculture or other related fields of study. The amount of each scholarship awarded is a minimum of $1,000. Students applying for this scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  1. The applicant must be a legal resident of the State of Georgia.
  2. The applicant must be enrolled in or accepted to a full-time (as defined by the selected institution) educational program as detailed above.
  3. The applicant must submit the completed application along with the required essay. Any blanks indicate an incomplete application and will not be considered.
  4. The applicant must submit a biography or resume. Special consideration will be given to students with hands-on culinary experience.
  5. The applicant must submit an official copy of her most recent transcripts with this application, or supply explanation if not able to provide.
  6. The applicant must submit two non-personal letters of reference. School faculty and employers in the industry are preferred.
  7. The financial need of each applicant will be considered. Completed applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm on May 15 for consideration in that calendar year.
  8. Scholarship recipients will be notified no later than July 1 and funds will be sent directly to the named educational institution no later than August 1.
  9. Scholarship funds may only be paid to the educational institution and used for debts owed to said institution. Institutional debts to include tuition, lab fees and books. Other expenses may be considered on a case-by-case basis, but must always be paid directly to the institution, not the recipient. Should the applicant’s debt with the educational institution be paid in full prior to the time Les Dames d’Escoffier funds reach the institution, all funds shall be returned to Les Dames d’Escoffier Atlanta Chapter.
