Each chapter of the League has a scholarship committee, appointed by its members. The committee collects applications throughout the school year and awards scholarships to the most outstanding student of Italian lineage. Italian-American Civic League of Utah Scholarships

About: Founded in 1934, the Italian-American Civic League (IACL) of Utah is a non-profit organization for Italian-Americans in the state that promotes civil, social, and educational growth. This scholarship is for Utah high school seniors of Italian ancestry who strive to promote these principles.
Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be of Italian ancestry
- Be a graduate of a Utah high school within the 2025-2026 academic year
- Be planning to matriculate as a degree-seeking student at any public or private higher education institution
Applying: Complete and submit the following materials by the application deadline of March 31, 2026:
- Application Form (see page 2)
- Resumé emphasizing academic and extracurricular activities
- Essay 1: What are your future educational/career goals? (300 words max)
- Essay 2: Describe your Italian ancestry. How has your Italian ancestry influenced your life? (600 words max)
- Most recent Utah official high school transcript with ACT and/or SAT scores
- Two letters of recommendation
Selection: Applications will be assessed and ranked based on the following:
- Extracurricular Activity Involvement (25%)
- Essays (25%)
- High school academic performance (40%)
- Involvement in an Italian cultural organization (10%)
Award: The scholarship award will be paid directly to the recipient for their use toward tuition, books, housing, and/or fees. Awards range from $1000 to $4000.
With scholarship acceptance, and prior to receiving the award, the recipient agrees to submit a recent digital photograph and a short biography within 30 days. These items will be published in the program book for Festa Italiana, the Salt Lake City Italian Festival, and IACL publications.
All scholarship applications are viewed and awarded by both Men’s and Women’s Chapters of the IACL.
Only one scholarship will be awarded to each selected applicant per IACL bylaws.
