Mar 31/26Each year Minnesota Hockey offers scholarship awards to eligible high school seniors who are current registered members of Minnesota Hockey.  These $1,500 scholarships can be used at any post high school academic institution and are one-time awards that will not need to be repaid.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Minnesota Hockey scholarship the applicant must be a resident of Minnesota, a H.S. Senior student/athlete who is registered with and participating on a Minnesota Hockey:  (a)  Junior Gold team; (b) Rec League team; or (c) Girl’s 19 & Under team that is affiliated with a MN Hockey Association and/or District.  (NOTE:  Those players participating at the High School level under the Minnesota State. High School League (MSHSL) are not eligible for these scholarships).  

MN Hockey Scholarship Application

The following items must be submitted. for consideration (Incomplete applications will not be considered):

1. Completed application form

2. Letter stating why you are applying for the scholarship, your academic goals, and hockey's significance in your personal development.

3. H.S. transcript showing current grade point average and class rank, if available. Include SAT and/or ACT test scores.

4. Two (2) letters of recommendation:  One from your current MN hockey coach; one from a teacher, school counselor or community leader.  

Selection

Scholarship applicants must meet the following academic criteria to be considered for a scholarship award.

1. Minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 grading system

2. Applicant must be considered a student in good standing (not on probation or suspension) at the school they attend

3. Scholarship awards cannot be deferred beyond the 2026 - 2027 academic year

Scholarship Award

If selected, the $1,500 scholarship award will be paid directly to the chosen school's Financial Aid office to be applied towards school expenses.

Upon notice of Award, applicant must submit to MN Hockey the following:

  • Awardee's School of choice
  • Date of planned enrollment
  • Copy of School's Acceptance letter
  • Address for the Financial Aid Office of the school atttending

Applications must be completed and received by the scholarship committee by no later than March 15, 2026. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
