For more than 30 years, the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence has honored top public school educators and students at its flagship event, the Academic Awards Celebration. The 2026 celebration will take place Saturday, May 2, at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
This inspiring event showcases the brilliance and positive impact of Oklahoma’s public schools. At the Academic Awards Celebration, OFE presents:
- $1,500 cash award to each of the 100 Academic All-State scholars selected from Oklahoma’s public high school graduating seniors. All-State Application and Criteria
- $5,000 cash award and Medal for Excellence to five public school educators, one each at the elementary, secondary, community college/regional university and research university teaching levels along with an elementary/secondary administrator. Medal for Excellence Nomination and Guidelines
- $2,000 cash award to one or more outstanding Oklahoma school foundation programs.
Outstanding Program Award Application and Criteria
Since 1987, the foundation has awarded more than $5.4 million in academic awards.
Outstanding Program Awards for School Foundations
The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence annually presents one or more Outstanding Program Awards to recognize innovative programs sponsored or administered by public school foundations in Oklahoma. Trophies and monetary awards of $2,000 each are presented to the winners, who will also be recognized at the Academic Awards Celebration on May 2, 2026, at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
Recognized programs may include but are not limited to: curriculum enhancement, arts integration, student leadership development, student scholarships, mentoring, professional development for teachers, public relations and fundraising.
Nominations for recognition may come from anyone knowledgeable about the foundation, including its board members.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Nominees must be registered with the IRS as a 501(c)3 organization.
- Nominees must serve elementary, secondary or technical schools in the state of Oklahoma.
- Only one program per foundation may be nominated for recognition.
- Program Award-winning foundations are ineligible for nomination for one award cycle following the award.
Nominations will open Monday, Nov. 3, 2025.
