Every year, scholarship season is a busy one at HCF, with all the planning and preparation that goes into administering more than 300 scholarship funds. To help you understand the timing of our processes, here is a brief overview of what to expect for this upcoming scholarship season:
- December 12, 2024: The 2025-2026 HCF Common Scholarship Application opens.
- December 2024: Students should submit the 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- *NOTE: The 2025-2026 FAFSA is expected to open by December 1, 2024. Check the FAFSA website at (https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa) for the most up-to-date information.
- February 28, 2025, 4 p.m. Hawaiʻi Standard Time: The 2025-2026 HCF Common Scholarship Application closes. Students are encouraged to apply online early to allow ample time to gather all necessary documents and information before the deadline.
- March 14, 2025, 4 p.m. Hawaiʻi Standard Time: Deadline for submitting letters of recommendation related to the 2025-2026 HCF Common Scholarship Application.
- March–April 2025: HCF staff and committees begin reviewing applications based on each fund’s criteria. After final eligibility is confirmed, recommendations are made, and awardees are selected.
- May– June 2025: Awardees are selected and notified on a rolling basis. If you are selected and notified of an award, you will need to take some additional steps to ensure we have all the information needed to prepare payment to your institution. Keep an eye on the email you use in your application!
- We make every effort to inform students before the May 1 College Decision Day, but cannot guarantee that awards will be announced by then. Due to the extensive nature of our review and selection process, we may continue to notify students throughout the summer if funds remain or become available.
- May 31, 2025: Final deadline to accept awards before they will be rescinded on June 2, 2025.
- August 2025: Our fall semester payments are mailed to institutions for students who have completed their required steps.
- August – September 2025: Institutions begin receiving scholarship payments.
- December 2025: Our spring semester payments are mailed to institutions for students who have completed their required steps.
