The National Catholic Committee on Scouting awards ten scholarships totaling $27,000. Originally established as the Emmett J. Doerr Memorial Scout Scholarship, the program is now known as the NCCS Scholarship Program. Applicants complete one application to be considered for any of the scholarship awards. NCCS Scholarships are awarded to service-oriented high school seniors who are Catholic Scouts in a BSA Program and continuing their education in college. The requirements are listed in the Eligibility Requirements section of this page.

Since 2005, NCCS has awarded a total of $245,000 in scholarships to 108 service-oriented Scouts nationwide.

Eligibility Requirements (All Scholarships)

  • Be a practicing Catholic
  • Be a full-time high school senior
  • Be a registered young man or woman actively involved with a Scout Troop, Venturing Crew, or Sea Scout Ship
  • Earned the Eagle Scout, Summit Award, or Quartermaster Award
  • Earned the Ad Altare Dei, Pope Pius XII, or Light is Life (Eastern Rite) Religious Emblem
  • Provided service and leadership to your Church, community, school, and Scouting

Completing this Application

  • You only need to complete this application once to be eligible for all NCCS Scholarships.
  • You may save this application and return to it by clicking the save button at the bottom of the form. You may also share the application with others that you would like to review your application before submitting it by providing them with the link.
  • Once you have completed all of the required questions and clicked the "Review Application" button, you will be emailed a draft of your application as a PDF file and a link to return to this page. After reviewing the file and making any necessary changes on this page, you may then proceed to submit your application. You may also request an updated draft PDF of your application to check any changes you made. You may review your application as many times as you want before submitting it.
  • After you submit this application, the individuals you listed for recommendations will receive a link to an online form that they must complete by March 15, 2024. The email will come from ScholarshipApplications@nccs-bsa.org with the subject "NCCS Scholarship Recommendation Request." Be sure to tell these individuals to watch for these emails. You will receive an email notification when each recommendation has been completed. It is your responsibility to follow-up with your recommenders to ensure they have submitted them.
