Scholarship Overview
The Ike Foundation awards scholarships to high school seniors pursuing full-time enrollment in a 2-year or 4-year college or university in the United States. Awards are based on academic achievement, demonstrated volunteer commitment (preferably in the fishing or conservation world), and a personal essay that answers our writing prompt.
The Ike Foundation Scholarship Committee reviews all applications through a blind, merit-based process using a standardized point system to ensure fairness and objectivity. The committee makes all final award decisions.
Scholarship funds must be applied toward tuition, fees, supplies, books, or equipment required for coursework.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for The Ike Foundation College Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:
- Be enrolled as a high school senior
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Plan to enroll in a two or four-year college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking student
- Demonstrate volunteer commitment to support the community, preferably related to fishing or conservation
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.2 (an unofficial transcript will suffice for eligibility purposes; however, an official transcript is required if selected)
- Submit at least one letter of recommendation from a current teacher, coach or administrator
- Provide written acceptance from your selected college or university
- Ensure all application materials are postmarked or submitted online before April 1, 2026
Essay Requirement: Submit a five-paragraph essay on the following topic:
- What role have fishing and the outdoors played in your life up to this point? What are your hopes for the future of fishing and the outdoors?
- While AI is a valuable resource, please use your own thoughts in your essay. All essays will be reviewed using AI detection software.
Important: If you do not submit an essay addressing the required topic, your application will not be considered.
