CDGA Foundation Veteran Scholarship

Scholarship Value: $5,000

Award Deadline: Sep 15, 2024

Eligibility:

  • Intent to enroll in an accredited college or career training school for up to a maximum of four paid awards/years
  • Must be a disabled veteran or a dependent of a disabled or deceased veteran
  • Must be a resident of Illinois or the greater geographic region known as the “Chicago District”
  • GPA of at least 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale)

New Applicants must include:

  • Personal letter from applicant. (Consider how you can most effectively convey your best qualities)
  • Two letters of recommendation from non-family members.
  • Copy of parent's most recent 1040 (first two pages)
  • Completed FAFSA and Student Aid Report
  • Copy of college tuition and fee statement
  • Copies of high school transcripts
  • Standardized test scores (ACT and/or SAT)
  • Verification by armed services of veteran disability

Application Cycle:

  • Two application deadlines per calendar year, April 15 and September 15
  • Extension periods will be addressed on a case-by-case basis
  • Determine Financial Needs:
  • Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the Student Aid Report (SAR) received after completing the FAFSA.
  • Take into account the required application documents and, if applicable, the parent statement of current financial condition
  • CDGA Foundation Scholarship Committee makes final recommendation

Award Disbursement:

  • Scholarship awards are $1,500, $2,500 or $5,000 per academic year
  • Scholarship funds are mailed directly to the school indicated on your scholarship agreement
  • The funds will be used for tuition and fees

Student Award Renewal:

  • Copies of grade report at the end of each of semester
  • Copies of tuition statement for each semester
  • Submit class schedule for each semester
  • Maintain a GPA of at least 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale)
  • Complete a new FAFSA application and submit the Student Aid Report (SAR) (see attached FAFSA instructions)
  • Eligibility criteria must be met each year. Being awarded previously does NOT guarantee an award in subsequent years.
