Each year, The Arc New York presents scholarships to individuals pursuing degrees in special education, physical or occupational therapy, or a field related to intellectual or other developmental disabilities.
JAMES F. REVILLE SCHOLARSHIP
-For full-time college students in a program related to the intellectual and developmental disability field such as behavioral sciences, social work, nursing, healthcare administration and management, or psychology.
This $3,000 scholarship per recipient is paid in two installments of $1,500 per semester for any year the student is enrolled in college in a program related to the field of intellectual or other developmental disabilities. The funds must be claimed within a four-year period from the time the scholarship is awarded. Two scholarships are presented annually.
About the Scholarship: Two $3,000 scholarships are presented annually. The scholarship is paid in installments of $1,500.00 per semester for any year the student is enrolled in college. The scholarship is presented to an individual who intends to pursue a career related to the field of intellectual or other developmental disabilities such as behavioral sciences, social work, nursing, healthcare administration and management or psychology. The funds must be claimed within a four-year period from the time the scholarship was awarded.
About James F. Reville: This scholarship honors James F. Reville, in recognition of his dedication to bettering the lives of people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Mr. Reville was one of The Arc New York’s most respected Presidents, serving the Association from 1965 to 1969. He served as President of the Welfare League Chapter of The Arc New York, from 1963 to 1964, was a member of the Association’s Board of Directors for many years, and served as the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee of the national association, The Arc. In 1970, NYS Governor Nelson Rockefeller appointed Mr. Reville to the Advisory Council on Mental Retardation Facilities and to the Developmental Disabilities Council.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Student must be enrolled full-time in any year of their college education
- Student’s training must be in a field related to intellectual or other developmental disabilities
- Student must be a New York State resident
- Students currently receiving a scholarship through The Arc New York are not eligible to receive simultaneous scholarships
