Scholarship For Women In STEM

Scholarship Value: $2,500

According to findings reported by the Department of  Commerce in 2017, women occupied 47% of all US jobs, but made up only 25% of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) jobs.

Despite this discrepancy, studies have shown that women in STEM jobs earn 35% more than women in other fields. As a result, the gender pay gap is smaller in STEM jobs.

For employers, improving  diversity in the workplace can have a positive impact in product design, innovation and collaboration.  However, many companies continue to under-invest in their diversity efforts, including building talent pipelines at entry level positions.

Understanding this, we want to do our part to build that pipeline of talented women in the STEM field. However, for many of these talented women, the cost of higher education is preventing them from reaching their full potential.

That’s why we’re offering a $2,500 scholarship to eligible female candidates enrolled in a STEM related degree program.

ABOUT TRUTHFINDER

TruthFinder is a San Diego-based technology company that specializes in making online public records accessible to all Americans.

TruthFinder has been committed to giving back to the next generation of thought-leaders and entrepreneurs. In 2019, we launched our TruthFinder Women in STEM scholarship where we awarded $2,500 to one scholarship winner. We’ve also participated in the national Hour of Code by sending volunteers to a local high school to teach coding to 9th graders.

We've hosted an all-girl field trip in which 42 students met with our female developers to discuss careers in STEM, along with a discussion about how to find space in a male-dominated tech world. We also donated seven Spheros Robots to a third-grade classroom at a local elementary school. The students learned how to develop code to animate the robots.

In short, TruthFinder was built by people who love what they do. So, we’re paying it forward by offering a scholarship to eligible candidates!
