The Dearborn Community Foundation, Inc. (DCF) has chosen to empower the women of Dearborn County to improve their lives through education. Through its Women Empowering Women (wEw) Program it is the Foundation’s desire to help the non-traditional female student who has not had the opportunity to attend college or complete their post-secondary education started previously in life. One educational scholarship in the amount of up to $500 is awarded. The educational scholarship will be applied to tuition, books and required fees.

The scholarship was renamed in June 2018 to honor one of DCF’s founders and original attorney, Lisa DeHart Lehner, who announced her retirement from her legal practice to pursue another business interest full-time.

DESCRIPTION

The Dearborn Community Foundation, Inc. has chosen to empower the women of Dearborn County to improve their lives through education. Through its Lehner Women Empowering Women (wEw) Program it is the Foundation’s desire to help the non-traditional female student who has not had the opportunity to attend college or complete their post-secondary education started previously in life. An educational scholarship in the amount of up to $500 will be awarded to one individual. The educational scholarship will be applied to tuition, books and required fees.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a female resident of Dearborn County;
  • Must have received an accredited high school diploma or a High School Equivalency/GED certificate no later than October 2, 2023;
  • Must be currently enrolled or plan to enroll by August 1, 2024 in an accredited post-secondary educational institution or program;
  • Must have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);
  • Must be a non-traditional female student who has not had the opportunity to attend college or complete their post-secondary education started previously in life.
  • Applications will be reviewed for completeness and professionalism and to ensure that the aforementioned criteria have been met. Selection will be based on essay score.
  • One scholarship up to $500 is available
