Purpose: Established in 1995, this scholarship is to be awarded to women of academic achievement who wish to enter the professions of law, public service, government, political science, or women’s history.
Scholarship Amount: $3,000.00 per year
Scholarship Requirements
1. Applicant must be a female.
2. Scholarship monies must be used at an accredited Texas college or university.
3. Applicant must have completed at least two semesters of studies.
4. Scholarship monies will be paid directly to the registrar of recipient’s chosen college or university.
5. Application and all supporting documents must be submitted by March 31.
6. A recipient of this scholarship remains eligible to apply for future scholarships.
Scholarship Criteria
1. Applicant must have a 3.0 or better grade point average; Submit certified transcripts of all college work.
2. Selection will be based on academics and need;
3. An essay shall be submitted by the applicant, not to exceed two pages, discussing the applicant’s need for the scholarship as well as one of the following topics:
- Importance of Women in the Workforce
- Importance of Women in Public Services, i.e., Law, Political Science, etc.
- Importance of the study of Women in History;
4. Two letters of reference must accompany application (example: college professors, counselors, employers, or professional colleagues);
5. Name of institution and student ID for the scholarship check and address to send check; and
6. The recipient of this scholarship is required to provide Texas Business and Professional Women’s Foundation Inc. with a digital photograph for publication and at least one message during the year regarding your experience at college.
