North Dakota Space Grant Undergraduate Scholarships

North Dakota Space Grant will continue to provide scholarship funding for outstanding students at North Dakota's public two- and four-year colleges and universities. Each NDSGC affiliate should identify its qualified applicants and submit awardees' information to Tori McIntosh by February 15th each year. Scholarships, which are designed for students pursuing STEM degrees that support NASA research and technology needs, are awarded for both the fall and spring semesters. NDSU/UND undergraduate students are not eligible.

Goals:

• To identify, recruit, and retain students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
• To encourage women and underrepresented students to enter these fields of study
• To increase NASA activities and awareness in North Dakota

Eligibility:

Applicants must be citizens of the United States who are enrolled in an undergraduate program at a tribal or public two-year or four-year institution of higher education in North Dakota. The degree program should be in or related to the areas of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.

Description of Undergraduate Scholarships:

Undergraduate scholarships will be awarded each school year and are merit based. The amount of money available for scholarships varies by college. The Office of Financial Aid and STEM departments at each college will determine the number of scholarships awarded and the due date for applications for each school year. Scholarship awards are limited to $2,500 per student. Students at UND and NDSU are not eligible for these scholarships.

In addition to one letter of recommendation from a faculty member, students (other than BSC students) must also fill out and turn in the application form to the Office of Financial Aid at their respective institution. Institution-specific instructions are below:

• Lake Region State College students: submit a one-page essay about yourself and your current and future educational goals, and how they are related to this scholarship; deadline is November 12th, 2022
• Mayville State University students: submit your application and letter of recommendation to Khwaja Hossain; deadline is November 26th, 2022
• Minot State University students: submit your application and letter of recommendation to financialaid@minotstateu.edu; deadline is October 31st, 2022
• Bismarck State College students: submit your application online; the application will request a letter of recommendation, resume, transcript, and essay response; deadline is February 15th, 2023

Primary selection criteria are:

1. Academic excellence (a minimum GPA of 3.00 is required)
2. Relevance of the student’s discipline and interests to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
