ACEC California will be awarding up to $65,000 in scholarships for qualified engineering and land surveying students throughout California. Highest upper division undergraduate award of $10,000 and highest graduate award of $10,000. Some applicants from Riverside/San Bernardino, Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Diego regions may be eligible for up to $50,000 in additional awards from local ACEC California Chapters based on their school location, residency, and hometown. In addition to the ACEC California State and Chapter Scholarships, you will also have a chance to apply for Need-Based and Diversity scholarships provided by the ACEC Research Institute. The top recipients of the ACEC California State Scholarship will be recommended by ACEC California in the ACEC National Scholarship Competition.

The scholarship application is completely online! The scholarship application portal is hosted by the ACEC Research Institute on the Award Spring Platform. In order to be considered you must complete the following checklist.

Scholarship Application Checklist

Before starting your online application:

  1. Check to see if you are eligible for an ACEC California Scholarship.
  2. Prepare two 250-word limit essays on the following topics:
    1. Why is engineering or land surveying your chosen profession?
    2. Explain how as a consulting engineer or surveyor you would contribute to a team.
  3. Gather your unofficial transcripts (with Fall 2023 grades).
  4. Gather your FASFA Student Aid Report (only required if applying for needs-based scholarships).

Online Application:

  1. Create an ACEC Research Institute account.
  2. Complete the General Application.
  3. Send the recommendation form to a consulting engineer, consulting land surveyor or engineering professor. (Additional points are awarded if your recommendation is from a consulting engineer or land surveyor.)
  4. Apply for ACEC California Scholarship.
  5. Apply for any additional scholarships you may be eligible for.
  6. Before the deadline, Friday, January 26, 2024: Check to see if your recommendation form has been completed. (Your application is NOT COMPLETE until the recommendation form has been submitted.)
