In response to the overwhelming number of applications we received for our 2022-2023 scholarship, Orchard will run two scholarships for the 2023-2024 school year, split between the Fall of 2023 and the Spring of 2024.
The Fall 2023 scholarship will be available for current undergraduate students and open on September 1st, 2023. While the Spring 2024 scholarship will open on January 1st, 2024, and be available for current high school seniors.
Eligibility for Fall 2023 Scholarship
This scholarship is available to women of color who are currently pursuing an undergraduate STEM degree.
The deadline for current undergraduate students is December 31, 2023.
Eligibility for Spring 2024 scholarship
This scholarship is available to women of color who are currently seniors in high school interested in pursuing a STEM degree.
The application for current high school seniors opens January 1, 2024, and closes April 30, 2024.
Requirements
For undergraduate college students:
- Full-time enrolled college student
- Declared major or degree program in STEM
- GPA of at least 3.0
- Must provide a transcript
For high school seniors:
- Full-time current students enrolled in a STEM class
- GPA of at least 3.0
- Must provide a transcript (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)
- Interest in pursuing a STEM degree in college
How to apply
To apply, please submit a transcript and one short essay (400-800 words) addressing the following question:
“What inspired you to pursue STEM and what do you hope to achieve in your career?”

How much is the award?
Orchard will award three scholarships in the Fall of 2023 and in the Spring of 2024. The scholarships will be in the following amounts: $2,500, $1,000, and $500.
When will the winner be chosen?
Undergraduate scholarship finalists will be selected and notified the last week of January 2024. High school scholarship finalists will be selected and notified the last week of May 2024. An official announcement will be shared once all recipients have accepted their awards.
