Application Process

Our standard award at the present time is $1,000. Applicants who meet the relevant criteria for any bursary are chosen at random, and each applicant has an equal chance of receiving an award.

Each year is treated on an individual basis, and we encourage you to apply every year you are enrolled in nursing studies, even if you have applied for and/or received a bursary in previous years.

You may apply for all bursaries for which you are eligible. However, please note that applicants cannot receive more than one bursary.

General Eligibility

Applicants must:

  1. Be residents of British Columbia.
  2. Be Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
  3. Include any specific documentation that proves eligibility based on the requirements listed.
  4. Provide documentation that confirms continuing enrolment or graduation in the current calendar year. Applicants selected to receive bursaries will be notified by email and will then be required to provide proof of current enrolment (i.e. in the Fall term) or graduation within the calendar year.

RNFBC communicates with selected bursary recipients via email!  You will be notified via email within approximately 8 weeks after the close of the bursary application process (3rd Monday of September).  We regret that due to the volume of applicants, only successful applicants will be notified.  We encourage all applicants to continue to apply for bursaries each year that they are enrolled in nursing studies.  Thank-you!

If you are in a graduate/certificate program that is online / situated outside of BC, you may still apply for a bursary.

NOTE: you will need provide documentation that you are a current resident of BC. Proof includes a valid driver’s license or BC Services card. Other acceptable documents include a utilities bill with address and your name dated within the last 3 months.
