  • Ten $5,000 awards for students attending 4-year colleges or universities.
  • Ten $2,500 awards for students attending 2-year colleges or universities, or vocational-technical students

Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica.org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Hunt Military Communities Foundation. Payments are made in one installment in early August payable to the applicant’s school.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Community involvement
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An outside appraisal
  • The response to two essays of 300 words or less:

Financial need is not considered. The selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Hunt Military Communities Foundation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

If you are chosen as a recipient and you do not accept your award in the timeframe given, your award will be forfeited. Part of accepting your award is submitting biographical information along with a head-and-shoulders photograph to the Heroes Foundation.
