Fight for Freedom Scholarship

Scholarship Value: $1,000
Awards Available: 1
Award Deadline: Jul 31, 2023

Our criminal justice system is under constant scrutiny, while laws and pieces of legislation are constantly in question, and at times rightfully so. As J. Ryan Brown Law, LLC is a criminal justice law firm passionate about freedom and upholding individual rights, we offer a scholarship for students who share our passion and want to make their voices heard.

The system in which we are living impacts every aspect of our lives. Changes in legislation may be a positive or negative thing. The reality is that these changes impact each person individually.

Recently, many controversial laws have been in the news and are a topic of discussion among people. Through this scholarship, we would like students to share a piece of legislation or law relevant to them and how changes would impact them. Explain why this piece of legislation or regulation should either be abolished or kept in place.

We are not here to judge your opinion or stance on any issue. Essay responses should be informed and thoughtfully written. Through the Fight for Freedom Scholarship, we will award one student with $1,000 to be used to pursue their educational goals. All majors are welcome to apply.

Eligibility

  • Any current high school senior, college student, or graduate student enrolled in a US institution for the upcoming academic semester.
  • Employees of J. Ryan Brown Law, LLC, their immediate families (parent, child, sibling, and spouse), and persons living in the same households as such individuals (whether related or not) are not eligible to participate in the opportunity.
  • Candidates for this scholarship should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and good overall academic standing.
  • All majors are welcome to apply.

Share with us a bit of legislation or regulation that has been a recent controversial topic. Explain why you feel this piece of legislation or law should either be abolished or kept in place. We want to hear how this piece of legislation has personally impacted you.
  • The candidate must submit a professional resumé that lists their professional and academic experience.
  • The candidate must submit a transcript from their current school. Students that have just transferred schools should include a transcript from their previous school.
