The Modern Mountain "Rise Up" Baking Scholarship is for students looking to pursue a professional career in Baking and Pastry Arts. It was created to support and connect with upcoming bakers, making the pursuit of your professional baking aspirations just a bit easier through financial assistance and one simple-as-can-be application. We'd love to give you a bit of dough to help you start off your first year right!
Eligibility
Eligibility for the Modern Mountain "Rise Up" Baking Scholarship is as follows:
- You have demonstrated academic excellence through a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- You have been accepted or are enrolled to a Baking & Pastry Arts program at a US-accredited post-secondary institution, college, or university as a part-time or full-time first-year undergraduate student. (Scholarship applications can be submitted while in the process of applying to Baking & Pastry Arts programs, but applicants will need to provide proof of acceptance into a program by the application deadline of May 31, 2025 in order to be considered as a scholarship recipient.)
- You are a legal citizen of the US.

Application Process
Our application includes the following components:
- Short essay responses to each of the following essay questions:
- What does baking mean to you? (300-500 words recommended)
- Tell us about your long-term goals or aspirations that have led you to pursue a career in baking and pastry arts.
- What is your best baking tip or trick?
- A current and complete transcript showing a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Proof of enrollment in a Baking & Pastry Arts Program at an accredited post-secondary institution, college, or university for the 2025/2026 school year.
Selection Criteria
The scholarship recipient will be chosen based on the following criteria:
- An evaluation of open-ended responses using the following criteria:
- Creativity and originality
- Demonstrated leadership potential
- Illustrated curiosity for the craft of baking
- Demonstrated academic excellence
