The Calgary Foundation has a long history of community involvement and supporting education in Calgary. These student awards were established in 2010 in memory of Marguerite Patricia P. Bannister. The awards are intended to support a child in a single-parent family pursuing post-secondary education at the University of Calgary.

Eligibility
Open to students registered in grade 12 that are completing the requirements of a high school diploma. Applicants must have demonstrated academic progress in grade 12 and marks sufficient for entrance to the University of Calgary.
Applicants are required to submit proof of financial need and preference will be given to a child in a single parent family.
Applicants are required to submit two letters of reference. Letters may be provided from a school official, employer, or a community leader representing a community-based organization. Volunteer and/or leadership activities are encouraged but not mandatory.
International fee-paying students are not eligible to apply for this award.

Selection & Payment
The selection committee will consist of representatives from both EducationMatters and Calgary Foundation.
The recipient must be registered in an eligible 4-year program of study leading to a degree at University of Calgary.
The award must be claimed within fifteen (15) months from the date of high school graduation. In order to receive funding, award holders must maintain an overall 3.0 GPA on a full-time course load for each renewable year. An Official Transcript must accompany future year Payment Activation forms, which must be received no later than three (3) months after the beginning of the semester.
