Awards may be declared for any or all categories at the discretion of the judges. All monetary awards are granted for further music study.

The Lynn Freeman Olson Composition Awards are given biennially in odd numbered years.

All applicants must be nonprofessionals whose works have not been previously published for the purpose of general public use or sales.

The applicant must evidence current membership in the National Federation of Music Clubs.

The applicant must be at the appropriate age/grade level and be studying in some area of music at the time of the application closing date (March 1) of the year of entry.

B) High School: Grades 10-11-12 at application closing date $1,000.00

C) Advanced: High School graduates through age 25 at application closing date $1,500.00

Applicants who receive awards are not permitted to enter the same category a second time. Example: an Intermediate award recipient cannot re-enter the Intermediate category.

The length of the composition may not exceed the equivalent of four (4) engraved manuscript pages.

Note: Solo/ensemble arrangements, and ensemble settings of standard works are not eligible.
