Nuclear Family Scholarship

Scholarship Value: $1,000
Awards Available: 1

As a law firm that strives to treat each client we help as if they’re family, we understand how important the effect of having family in your life can be. That’s why we wanted to use this scholarship as an opportunity to get students to think about how their family has shaped them into the person they are today. It is easy to take family for granted, so it is our hope this scholarship will help students who are going through life-defining experiences in college to reflect on their past relationships and to continue shaping themselves into well-rounded young adults.

Our team will award one winner $1,000 to help with their education costs. While we will likely receive many strong applications from deserving students, we will select the individual who we feel best shares their story of how a member of their immediate family has shaped them into the person they are today. Applicants must also meet the following eligibility requirements.

Eligibility

A) Our scholarship is open to any current high school senior, college student or graduate student who is a legal resident of the United States, and resides in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia.

B) The applicant must be enrolled in a two to five year post-secondary institution for the Fall 2023 semester.

C) Employees of the Law Office of David E. Gordon, their immediate families (parent, child, sibling, and spouse), and persons living in the same households of such individuals (whether related or not), are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

D) Candidates for this scholarship should have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be in good overall academic standing.

Application Requirements

A) The candidate must submit a 750-1000 word essay answering the following question: How has a member of your immediate family, like a parent or a sibling, helped shape the person that you are today?

B) The candidate must submit their resumé that lists their experience, both professional and academic. Please make sure to include both your current school and your upcoming school (if applicable) as your educational experience.

C) The candidate must submit a transcript from their current school. First-year college students, graduate students, or individuals who have recently transferred schools may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school, in addition to their most recent official transcript from their prior school.
