Dr. David S. Robertson Scholarship Fund

ApplicationThe CIM Foundation (CIMF) is committed to ensuring a strong future for the mining and metallurgical industries through incentives to support and promote education. In an effort to encourage young people to pursue careers in mining and related industries, CIMF is offering the Dr. David S. Robertson Memorial Scholarship for Geology. 

The CIMF is offering one $4,000 award to an outstanding undergraduate student in their 3rd year, studying geology in Canada. Both Canadian and international students are invited to apply. Applications must be submitted by April 30. The scholarship recipient will be announced in July and the scholarship will be awarded in September providing the candidate remains active and enrolled in their faculty’s geology program. An announcement about the recipient will appear in CIMF Newsletter and website.

The CIMF finances educational initiatives of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), Canada’s leading professional association for the mining, minerals and energy industries. CIM has over 14,000 national members, 10 technical societies and 35 branches across the country. 

Eligibility

Recipients are selected on the basis of eligibility and must be enrolled full-time and currently completing their third year of an eligible undergraduate university program in geology in Canada. The scholarship is open to Canadian and international students.

Qualifications

Applicants will be judged on academic achievement, practical experience and a commitment to a career in the mining

Application Requirements

Complete application packages must be submitted by April 30 and include:

• The application form
• Letter of referral from a professor
• Essay describing how you are preparing yourself for a career in geology (maximum 400 words)
• Resume (curriculum vitae)
• An official, sealed copy of your current academic transcript
• An official confirmation of enrollment from your University registrar’s office
