Purpose
The ADEA/Haleon Preventive Dentistry Scholarships support predoctoral dental students who have demonstrated academic excellence in preventive dentistry.
Overview
Twelve predoctoral dental students will receive the ADEA/Haleon Preventive Dentistry Scholarships each year. Each student will receive $2,500.
Eligibility Requirements
An applicant must:
- Be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited predoctoral dental program in the United States or Canada, having completed at least one year of the program.
- Demonstrate, through personal activities and achievements, a strong interest in preventive dentistry.
- Possess a superior academic record.
- Be nominated by the dean of his or her dental school or the dean’s designate (no more than three nominations are accepted from each school).
- Be an ADEA Individual Member.
Application Process Checklist
Applicants must submit the following items by Sept. 15, 2025, using the ADEA online application process.
- A letter from the dean describing the applicant’s academic record, achievements and activities (research, community service and program development) in preventive dentistry that have gone beyond those required of all students for graduation.
- A summary of the insights the student has gained from achievements and activities (research, community service and program development) in preventive dentistry.
- A current curriculum vitae.
- Transcripts obtained from the candidate’s school registrar verifying academic standing.
- Your application to this scholarship will use the information in your ADEA profile. Please ensure your profile is updated by going to adea.org/myadea.
De-identified applicant information will be used to improve scholarships at ADEA and may be published. Identified information (e.g., biographies) of successful winners will be published on the ADEA website, shared with your home institution, and may be used in ADEA promotional material. By applying to this scholarship, you agree that you have read and understand how your information could be used.

Notification Date
Scholarship recipients and applicants not receiving awards will be notified by Dec. 5, 2025.
Awards will be announced during the 2026 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition, March 21 to 24, 2026, in Montreal, Canada.
