The Glens Falls Foundation Gilberto and Lennetta Pesquera Fund offers scholarship grants for medical school education on an annual basis to assist qualified students who have graduated from local area schools and are currently enrolled in medical school. The grant is generally $4,000 per year, but the amount may vary with the number of applicants and available funds. These grants are restricted to tuition, fees, books and supplies. The payments are remitted directly to the student by the end of July.
All applications received on or before the due date will be referred to the Pesquera Scholarship Committee for evaluation. All applicants must request that the medical school send an official copy of his/her current academic record/transcript directly to the Committee Chairman.
In addition to an official transcript, first-time applicants must submit the application form, the names and contact information for two personal references, and a brief paragraph stating the area(s) of medicine that interest them and their career goals.
Re-applicants must submit an official transcript, the application form, and a brief paragraph updating their area(s) of medical interest and career goals. They do not need to submit references.The application, paragraph, references and transcript should be sent to the attention of the Pesquera Scholarship Committee Chair by email at administrator@glensfallsfoundation.org by the fourth Friday of June. Replies to applicants will be made by the fourth Friday of July.
The Pesquera Scholarship Fund awards grants to first, second, third and fourth year medical school students. Students Must Apply Each Year as Follows:
1. First-year students must submit documentation that they will be attending medical school. All other applicants must submit their official medical school transcript sent electronically or in a sealed envelope directly from the medical school;
2. All applicants must submit this 3-page application, completed and signed;
3. First-time applicants must submit a brief paragraph stating the area(s) of medicine that interest them and their career goals. They must also submit the names, phone numbers, and email addresses of two personal references (other than family), whom we may contact in regard to character, motivation and potential;
