Judge Sidney M. Aronovitz Memorial Scholarship
The Aronovitz Family partnered with The Miami Foundation to honor the memory of the late Judge Sidney M. Aronovitz. Judge Aronovitz stood as an example for the community, excelling in his chosen profession and always thinking of those less fortunate than himself. Scholarships are awarded to Miami-Dade County minority students planning to continue their education through the university-level and pursue a career related to the legal field or social-justice issues.
The application deadline is March 15, 2026.
Submission + Deadline
Applicants must apply through The Miami Foundation’s scholarship portal. To access the online portal, go to scholarships.miamifoundation.org, click on ‘scholarship portal’ on the right-hand side of the screen to register for an account. Once, you have registered, click on ‘2026 Judge Sidney M. Aronovitz Memorial Scholarship’.
Please be advised that The Foundation will not accept mailed, faxed, or emailed applications. If awarded, funds can be used to cover eligible educational expenses up to the institution’s cost of attendance, as determined by your college or university.
Review your application carefully and ensure that it is filled out completely.
Applications must be submitted online by Sunday, March 15th at 11:59 p.m.

Eligibility
In order to qualify, applicants must:
- Plan to pursue a career related to the legal field or social-justice issues - striving to ensure social fairness and equity in society and working on behalf of marginalized groups.
- Be a minority high school senior graduating in Spring 2026 or a GED student no older than 19 years of age attending a Miami-Dade County Public School.
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Selection Criteria
A Scholarship Advisory Committee will review and rate the applications and make final decisions on scholarship awards. The following criteria will be considered in evaluating applicants:
- Career and educational aspirations related to the legal field or advancing social justice
- School and Volunteer Activities/Work Experience and Community Involvement
- Letter of Recommendation
- Academic Achievement
- Financial Need
- Desire to return to Miami-Dade County post-college to better the community
